John Moran Educational - Trust Making financial awards to support the entry into higher education

Here’s more on the Trustees – all of whom donate their time voluntarily.

Catherine was educated in Crosby, and taught for both Lancashire and Liverpool Education Authorities before re-training as a Probation Officer. After having a family and moving to Yorkshire, she returned to teaching. Catherine then moved again to Bedfordshire, where she worked with the homeless and was involved in Prison Education. She was married to John Moran, the inspiration for this charity, for twenty five years and together they had two daughters. At present, Catherine is involved in the design and creation of a three-acre garden.

Josie began her career as a primary school teacher. She then went to Sicily for ten years to teach English. On her return to England she continued her career as a primary school teacher until 2000 when she took up a post as an ICT specialist with MGL World. At the same time she became a Liverpool City Councillor and during her 10 years representing the Knotty Ash ward she was also, for a time, Chair of Education, Chair of Green Issues & Heritage and Assistant Executive Member for Ethical Governance.

In 2005 she took up the post of Aim Higher Manager at Liverpool Hope University until 2011, when the programme came to an end. Josie continues to be actively involved with environmental issues.
